Monthly Newsletter : January 2010

A Note From The Editor

2010 is here! A new year with new goals and new strategies to help move our businesses forward in new and more exciting directions than 2009!

What plans and goals do you have for your business this year? Whatever your goals are be sure to set checkpoints to measure progress throughout the year!

2009 has been a busy one where I completed two online certifications in social media marketing and virtual event organizing. I see social media continuing to grow and play an important role for many businesses' marketing efforts. As we search to find ways to cut costs in 2010, virtual events will become more prevalent as opposed to investing in hotel and airfares for face-to-face meetings.

I know there are some new things I would like to try in 2010 including connecting with my audience through video, podcasting, internet radio shows and more blogging.

This year I also plan to focus my newsletter on information to help you stay tuned to the latest tools and technologies available to help you get more exposure for your business, to reach your target audience and lower your costs so stay tuned!

To your success,

What Social Media Can Do For Your Business

For 2010, social media should become part of the way you do business online, integrated into your total online marketing plan. The New Year is a great time to rethink, refresh, and revitalize your social media marketing efforts.

The video below is a great example of how social media can help your business. After taking over his father's local liquor store, Shopper's Discount Liquors, and building it from a $4 million business to a $50 million one, he created the wine-tasting blog Wine Library TV and discovered the power of the Internet for driving sales.

Gary Vaynerchuk recently signed a 10-book deal with Harper Publishing rumored to be worth $1 million which came from 1 million followers on Twitter that came from a wine business! The first book, "Crush It" was released on October 13th, 2009. You can read more about his first book "Crush It" here.

ScreenToaster - Free Online Screen Recorder

Have you ever viewed a tutorial where the speaker is giving a tour of a website or some software and instead of seeing this person speak, you're seeing a view of her computer screen? This is commonly referred to as a screencast, and was most commonly created by purchasing Camtasia Studio software.

ScreenToaster is designed to capture screen activity in real-time to rapidly create and share tutorials, demos, training, lectures and more. You can then share and stream videos online in Flash, embed them on blogs and webpages or send them by email.

ScreenToaster is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OS X and Linux and is optimized to run on Firefox 2 +, Internet Explorer 7 +, Chrome, Opera 9 and Safari.
